Exploring is the co-ed program of Learning for Life, a subsidiary of the Boy Scouts of America.
Exploring’s main focus is on career education for students who are ages 14 (and have completed
the 8th grade)through 20 years of age.
Explorer Posts are supported in many of the same ways that Packs and Troops are. A local
organization/business sponsors a career education Post. Students who are interested in the Post’s
career focus are invited to join by the head of the department/corporation. The participation fee for
the Post is a minimum of $10.00 a year. Some Posts do charge extra fees to help cover the cost of
mailings, parties, awards, etc.
Exploring operates on an academic year schedule. Students are invited to join the program in the
fall and most Posts discontinue their meetings over the summer months. Posts meet 1-2 times per
month. Each meeting consists of hands-on learning, guest speakers, field trips, or college visits.
To learn more about the Exploring program in your county, contact your area’s District Executive
or Exploring Executive.

information, please visit the national Learning for Life Exploring website at www.learning-for-life.org.
